All about the wine
Vineyard
The vineyard of the Krottmeier family is on the Raisachberg near Glojach, which is 6 kilometres away, and was built 1995 by the owner of the Buschenschank, Rudolf Krottmeier.
After building the vineyard 15 years ago, the question was asked, what should happen with the wine? After mature consideration, Rudi decided to open a Buschenschank, where his own range of wine should be sold. Down to the present day, nothing changed.
Vintage
At the vintage, which mostly takes place in September, the mellow grapes are cut off by hand. Every year some neighbours, friends and relatives come together to help with the vintage.

Our range of wine
We offer you among other things the Pinot Blanc and the Zweigelt, which come from our own vineyards.
Pinot Blanc
Synonyms: | Klevner, Weißburgunder, Weißer Burgunder |
Appearance: | As a young wine it has a pale yellow colour and with more and more maturity it gets a bold yellow. |
Flavour: | Smaller vintages create light, drinkable and delicate wines, but in good years high-quality, harmonius wines, which are full and mild in flavour. |
Smell: | In good years and with a longer storage the Pinot Blanc smells like bread crust, a nutty smell. Otherwise it doesn't have a distinct bouquet (= characteristic smell of a wine). |
Food companion: | Egg dishes, pork, crustaceans and shellfish |
Shelf life: | Depending on vintage and maturity, the Pinot Blanc can be stored for 2 to 4 years. |
Temperature: |
10 to 12° C |
Zweigelt
Synonyms: | Blauer Zweigelt, Rotburger |
Appearance: | The Zweigelt has a strong red with a violet gleam and when it has a high maturity, it is very dark red. |
Flavour: | It has a fruity to mellow flavour with a medium content of tannin (tannin = herbal substance of tan). |
Smell: | The Zweigelt can smell like different fruits or cherries. |
Food Companion: | Dark meat, Brettljause, venison |
Shelf life: | 2 to 4 years |
Temperature: |
14 to 16° C |
